#109241 Hub Lords Assemble

Posted by surlynkid on 28 September 2018 - 06:18 AM

I'm with you there. The only downside is replacing the rears is a real PITA at the track.

I used to bring complete rear uprights with new bearings and new hubs with enduro studs already pressed in.  Quick swap.  Without a press, doing a rear hub at the track is a bitch.

I heard differently, I heard their are more instructors than students at the last couple events. So they are winding down on over staffing instructors and just pairing per the registration.

Last time I was there, DE 1 & 2 were huge.  There were more DE drivers than racers.

A bunch of TT cars did not survive Chin. There could be 5 cars not at Nationals. Mine did not survive and is at shop. I’m out. Fennell, Mowry, Jason Jones and Baltutis all had problems as well. Bummer for all of us.

I'm in.  First trip to the east coast and Chin will be awesome.  Weather should be great.  Registration is Monday evening.

#106541 Two Tone Numbers

Posted by surlynkid on 19 June 2018 - 08:03 AM

I have used used trackdecals.com the last 2 times I needed numbers and have been very happy. But this new car I want 2 tone numbers and I am not sure where to go. Obliviously my google skills are failing. Suggestions please.

Here is my last car and an example of what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Any vinyl shop can make them

Nope.  He was slower all weekend.  In that car, he was 2:35 at COTA.

#106419 Should a driver pay for damage to other cars in HPDE? W2W?

Posted by surlynkid on 15 June 2018 - 11:03 AM

I only let one other guy drive my car on track.  He is very competent, drives rear engine 911s and can afford to replace it is he wads it up.  He never drives it 10/10th though.  He helps me with setup.

#106272 edison_GTI track car build thread - AKA Kermit

Posted by surlynkid on 12 June 2018 - 08:20 PM

Ouch. Hopefully it wasn't 64 grey.....

No it was not car #64.  The at fault car looked worse than Kermit but probably much more easily rebuilt.

I am in for TT2 at Nats and fully expect to get spanked by a corvette that is much more well sorted than @lobster or Terry Free.  I predict a corvette will win TT2 although if @kfennell can get his trans squared away and other issues resolved and get his flyer in early, he may do very well.  The track benefits from the corvette torque that I don't have.  All I have going for me versus out of region guys is the number of laps I have there and the ability to go practice with Chin or SchnellFest in the 2 weeks preceding the event.

Will already said that the weekend counts for TX region points.  Nothing that is new news there.  I have to drop MSRH as my car was not ready.

#106067 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Tow Beast For Sale

@Toekneewhen borrowing some one else's vehicle to drive, sounds like business as usual for him.

His Excursion won’t make it. I really wanted to be able to sell it at under 200K miles but Tony is the guy who is going to roll it over. The deal was that he cannot finish in front of Sally in the races.

Here are all the pictures.  Thanks to @Toekneewhen for the pictures.  He is using the truck to tow his car and Agudo's car to Hallett, and apparently it was too dirty for him to be seen in, so he cleaned it up for me.

I have never been to Hallett. Do the spots with power always fill up? I won't be there till late Friday but need power for the trailer.

You need to call Connie at Hallett and rent them.

There seem to be as many opinions as assholes on here as to the best way to get from DFW to Hallett. Last year we split D and FW on 360 that is up the middle, but ended up going different way than the year before after that. Is there a tried and true path or just depends on construction.

iPhone map sends me right up the gut of 45 thru Dallas. Screw that with a trailer.

Oh - and everyone get their two rolls of quarters for tolls.
