KevinDB Report post Posted October 5, 2020 Update to the drama llama Camaro Shop in question seems to have closed up, and likely facing lawsuits from others. As usual no response to any of my inquiries. Rumor has it he was robbing Peter to pay Paul... My car likely sits outside, with no engine and probably no differential installed (and some valuable parts somewhere in the shop - upgraded radiator with hoses, MCS 2wnr coilovers with Vorschlag camber plates were in the trunk, but who knows now) The engine - which is worth more than the car at this point, is in the care of Modern Airflow Designs - Trey is a standup guy and is going to let me pickup the engine when it's ready (maybe this week), and is going to deal with the other guy for whatever he is owed. Camshaft pending install once it's delivered from TSP. I need some advice. -Help picking up the car, and the engine (I hope to find a shop willing to do the install that can maybe help me with pickup also) -How would you go about the pickup of what amounts to a rolling chassis from a shop that you can't contact? That has a gate that is likely locked? Do you know the specific Texas laws about this? I expect this might be a contentious situation with the car, I owe nothing to the shop, in fact he will owe me some of the pre-paid money for not completing the job (not going to hold my breath on that one) Also - shop recommendations? Don't care where in Texas, as long as they aren't shysters. Share this post Link to post
himself Report post Posted October 5, 2020 I have no idea on this, but my instinct would be small claims court and then you get a judgment and show up with a Sherriff to get your stuff. I wouldn't go anywhere near a locked location to get stuff (even if it's mine) without a police escort. -td Share this post Link to post
Captain Buddha Report post Posted October 5, 2020 Bring friends and/or call the local sheriff, bring a copy of your title...or the actual title...and ask for help...a case of beer sitting next to the sheriff's car probably doesn't hurt...for after shift consumption...of course... Matt93SE Report post Posted October 6, 2020 I would start with a call to local police station or sheriff's office and explain he's holding your property and he's been non-responsive, you want it back, etc etc. Ask them how to handle it so you have their buy-in if things get testy. It's likely someone in the office already knows about this guy since you're probably neither the first nor last... Be ready with all paperwork in hand- down payment receipt if you have one, car title, photos showing anything else you own like a diff or shocks or other parts that should be around the shop so you can identify them as yours. 2 Captain Buddha and KevinDB reacted to this Share this post Link to post

Did this....they informed me they can't do anything about it - I have to take it up as a civil matter. I guess this is how conmen are able to operate so long without going to jail... Matt93SE Report post Posted January 13 Ugh. according to some reporter somewhere that might have done some research, their advised next step is an attorney or the state attorney general's office. (see last paragraph here: https://smallbusiness.chron.com/car-closed-business-14907.html ) 1 KevinDB reacted to this Share this post Link to post
