Edge Addicts Triple Play - Nov 16, 17, 18

Recommended Posts

"Three tracks in three days. We will start with the technical 1.3 mile course on Saturday, move to the 1.7 on Sunday, combining them both  Monday on the mega 3.1 mile course.  You will be ready for the big time after spending three days, over 10 hours, on these amazing tracks.  As a special treat your lunch and snacks will be provided."

Kinda suprised I didn't see this in here already. Three days, three configurations. A few friends have already signed up to not instruct and enjoy time driving with each other, which sounds just ---- awesome. Anyone on the boards going?

Sigh!  sounds awesome.

Anybody want to ride share to cover a chunk of your expenses?

I have quite a few hours of track experience with FWD (Mazdaspeed3), RWD (Camaro) and AWD (Audi A4 and WRX).  Over the years I've only been off track once in a car - due to brakes going to ice mode pushing hard for a TT time.  Plenty of "moments" of course.  Never raced, just HPDE's and a touch of TT and Autox.

I'd have to run novice due to so much time off.  In my own cars I tend to overdrive, but am nicer to other peoples' stuff. Just want to get some seat time.

Yeah, this is the second time I've done the Triple Play event and it was great again this year.  Perfect weather.  Met some old friends and made some new ones.  I had some new RE-71R's drop-shipped to Doghouse and had them mounted after session 4 on Sunday which made Monday on the 3.1 much more fun.  I had installed a fresh set of front brake pads before I went to the track.  Wish I had brought another set for Monday ?; live and learn.  But again, it was a great event.  Looking forward to next year.

I went to ECR for the 2.7 opening on Saturday and was busy Sunday and Monday, but, it looked like a good turnout.  I ran it in 2017, my son and I in 2018, and we had a blast.

Hollywood, now that you have run the 3.1, you know it is a very challenging and fun track we DFW guys are lucky to have nearby.  The 1.3 in 30-minute sessions, especially in the heat, tests brakes, tires, cooling system, and drivers!

Absolutely. You guys have a slice of heaven. That 1.3 is no joke, no rests, but all out fun. I couldn't wait to turn the next lap.

A set of pads didn't last 3 days? Wow. I thought my Mustang had an appetite

They are/were Ferodo DS1.11 pads.  This is the third set I've used this year and I got similar results with the other sets.  Three days reduces the pads to less than 50% of material remaining (= 2+mm per day).  I used to use PFC08's and would get five days on them.  So far, the DS1.11's are much kinder to my (Sebro) rotors, which is the reason I switched.  Here is a photo from the previous set.
