That is an find.  I had this huge 6' poster of one, I think it was the 916 SPS though?  Anyhow in red, with the white tail, and the termi-baloney exhaust.  It fit me horribly, and I don't like V twins, but it  was an incredible looking machine.  It's aged quite well.

They made the 916sps in 98 then it became 996SPS (same engine). They are wonderful machines.

That looks like a garage full of FUN and PAIN! LOL

I had a "poor man's Ducati" back in '98 or so, the Suzuki TL1000S - that things was a BLAST!! I had a Monster 1000 a few years ago, it was fun too! I always thought of the Ducs as having an L-Twin (90 degrees) versus a V-Twin (less than 90 degrees). Either way - nothing like the grunt of a Twin!! Thump Thump Thump!

Why would you put Japanese wheels on a German car?

Tune + Ohlins + wheels done.

If stock it makes 420hp and 416 ft/lb, post  treatment it should be making 500hp and 510 ft/lb.

next will be the short throw shifter from Numeric but at $600 it ain’t cheap! 😅

Found the short shifter.

I am always amazed at the interchangeability of parts between Porsches. The bottom end is from a 90s 964, I just bought the short shifter coming from a 2010 GT3. That’s 20years in between models, with the 996 in the middle.

here is the part number I got.

i like to use OEM racing parts when possible.

  • Make: Porsche
  • Manufacturer Part Number: 9974240109

Snagged from a dealership in Maryland that sold it to the original single owner, and serviced it all its' life.  Hopefully our machines can meet up some day!  Transporter picking it up today.

I was going to school in Milan in the early 2000s and I heard this 996 (maybe Turbo, maybe 4S) that was particularly ignorant in emitting sound.

i remember it had these tips on and I just had to have them.
