How to get Throttle and Brake Position from a Solo 2DL in a NA

Recommended Posts

All, trying to figure out how to get Throttle and Brake Position information from a Solo 2DL in an NA.  It looks like maybe the Solo 2DL does not accept the ODB info from the NA.  Can anyone offer advice or point me in a direction.

Going to start Travis in an NA H2R challenge car.  Hope to get the same information we get in his Tag Kart.

You can't. Before '96 the cars were not ODB II, so no interface for the Solo DL2.

Even the '99 with ODB II, the refresh rate on the ODB II port is too slow to provide any useful data, 1 hz. It's fast enough to diagnose engine issues, but not for track data.

The '06 NC ODB II is the first to provide useful data.

The only way to get the data is to upgrade to at least an MXM and get the proper sensors. There are many vendors familiar with the right sensors for a Miata, X-Factor, Advance Autosports.

All it takes is significant money.

Note completely true.  With a Analog-to-CAN converter, you can send your own sensors straight to the DL2.

You would still need a potentiometer for brake pedal even with OBDII as there's nothing that reads its position.

I realized later he did request brake position and not pressure, but the main point is that there is a way to log 0-5v sensors on the DL2, just requires that analog-to-CAN converter
