Notes:

Car interior is in very good condition other than the following

A and C pillar fabric is coming off on both sides. These either need to be replaced (around $80 each) or repaired. This was going to be a task for this year but I don’t have time to complete.

Steering wheel alcantara/suede is quite messy. You can get the wheel recovered professionally for around $250.

The rear-view mirror suffered the dreaded liquid failure, so I stripped and reassembled. So no auto dimming.

The rest of the interior is very good. Some wear and tear as expected for age, but the front seats are extremely good, near perfect leather. No tears or obvious marks in driver seat leather.

The exterior is good. Some stone chips on the front. A few dings around the body work. The kind of marks that only the owner will know about or see when hand washing the car. Again, not concours but good for age.

The VANOS was changed at 42,000 miles (2012) due to failure. The work was carried out by Motorwerks BMW under warranty from BMW of North America. I have had no issues with VANOS during my ownership. The engine is great. Doesn’t burn oil at all, even during the couple of times I have had the car on track.

I purchased the car with 61,100 miles on the clock in Feb 2016.

At 62,789 miles (7/26/16) I took the car to a local BMW specialist as the clutch engagement was “slurring”. Chased the issue for a couple of weeks and eventually resorted to pulling the transmission down to look at the clutch. Clutch was fine by there was an oil leak from the rear main engine seal. Took the opportunity to change out some of the typical wear items on the transmission (lock pin, pilot bearing, clutch pivot pin, clutch release arm, input shaft seal, detent ball & spring, release arm spring). Also put in new transmission mounts and driveshaft flex joint. Total cost $5,200.

In August 2016 I had the sub frame reinforcement done at Vorshlag Motorsports in Plano, TX. At the same time I had them install the MCS 2-way NR suspension. There were no cracks. You can see pictures of the whole work process at Vorshlag’s website. On re-installation of the axel carrier sub-frame I had Powerflex urethane bushing installed. The MCS suspension is absolutely AWESOME. The setup is street/track balanced. 550lb front springs and 650lb rears. The MCS dampers have such a great digressive valving that the ride is less harsh and jouncy than the OEM.

In June 2017 (6/14/17 and 65,115) I had the entire cooling system refreshed. I’m not going to list all the parts here because it is a LONG list but the major items were; expansion tank, all hosing, radiator, belts, tensioner and radiator. Over $2,000 of parts. Also replaced the engine mounts at the same time and did the differential fluid.

It’s been 2,500 miles since last oil change. It is due one by time, but I do have the filter/oil for the change. I have not driven the car for a few months now. Battery is maintained with a trickle charger.

KBB for this car is $19,800 top end. I don’t think that KBB values specialist cars like this one very accurately, tending to be low. That said, I have used this as the basis for my valuation and adjusted for the extras that I am offering.

Please note that this car has aftermarket parts installed that have altered the factory NVH. The Vorshlag front camber plates and rear damper mounts are spherical bearings. The rear axel carrier bushings are hard urethane. This had improved the performance of the car in terms of drive and handling but definitely has increase substantially the NVH. If you think you won’t like this, then this is NOT the car for you. It is a perfect weekend fun car and occasional track weapon and comes with EVERYTHING that you need to do that. Mount in a race seat, install the track wheels and go have a blast on track. The MCS suspension is amazing.

Price:

Car as is with all the spares mentioned $26,750

Car as is without the spares (still supply you the service manual/INPA software, filters and oil, OEM suspension parts and radiator) $24,950

I’m open to sensible offers…

My E36 should be sold in 3-4 weeks, and if your car isn’t spoken for (somehow) by that time, I’ll want to take a look at it.
Is the best way to contact you via PM on here, or do you want to send me your email or phone number?

I'm a lost soul.
