Is there a way to show the lap times in descending order based on track direction? It would be nice to view MSR-C 1.7CW for example and have those times in order.

I can do that, I'll probably have to add a direction selection, so it'll only display laps from "CW" or "CCW"

@JBJones btw, if you play around with shift+click on table headers you can finagle your way to sorted by direction and time.

It's not apparent and fairly cumbersome but if you're curious while you wait for me to add that functionality that is straight forward and works consistently.

A few people are using fake names which is fine.  I'm  not looking to farm personal information.

It's there if they want to have their name down or not (I don't use my real name on my laps either)

You say that "it's there if they want to have their own name".  Not seeing where you can modify name or update profile picture.

The profile picture currently just pulls the profile picture associated with your google account.

When you create a lap it auto fills the name boxes with the firstname and familyname values from google.

All you have to do is erase it and write in whatever and you can do the same when you edit a lap

(laps by driver are by a unique ID not by name)

Added SSL to the site.

https://www.tracklaps.net

I'll add redirection in a bit (forcing SSL only)

whoops.

I messed up creating the certificate chain..

I fixed the chain so SSL should work without error in any browser.

Also, redirection is in place.

Now traffic is encrypted and hidden to everyone except the government!

lah dee dah!   175 laps in the database

I still need images for most of the tracks.

Still working on porting the site to a responsive framework.

179 laps.   Though it appears as though getting some laps from tracks outside of the Texas region so that's fancy.

I think ill have some shirts made when I hit 200 laps.

Noticing a downward trend in traffic.  (along with overall lap submissions)  I really don't know what to create content wise... without content it's just a lap database.   Without a ton of laps it's not overly useful.  Catch-22 it seems.

I do have the responsive framework completed.   Just have to port the pages over.  Not overly anxious to jump into that at the moment though.

2 more laps for VIR, how neat is that?

...

that's pretty neat.

I think I'm going to make the site tweet when a new lap is submitted.   That'll be fun and entertaining for a second.

I'm pretty sure I shouldn't bother with Goodyear Wrangler for the list because I doubt many brodozers ever hit the road course.

I did.  I took my 01 Tundra with worn out shocks around MSRH on a parade lap.  At 50mph, it felt like I was running a hot lap!
But I didn't log a time, so don't bother adding my truck to your database. :)

I assume people generally want to post their best lap times. For those who already put times up, they aren't likely to be bested this time of the year due to the heat unless significant changes to the car have been made. For others who haven't put up laps yet, they may be wanting to wait until they are faster (see above), just don't care that much or are not aware of it yet. Not sure where else you are pushing this, but may want to consider other forums/ fb groups, etc.

I am probably an oddity, but I just didn't want to use my real Google identity & was too lazy to set up a different one. I understand the pros of using that authentication approach though.

Can you have it notify a user when somebody beats their best lap time?

Frederic

FWIW, nobody (except I can see it in the database on the backend) can actually see your email address and you don't have to use the name associated with your google ID.

That's a cool idea and shouldn't be that hard to implement.
