LavaMan
Just got hooked due to my brother who's been racing for 20 years, Spec Miata in '90 1.6L for the last 10. My son and I went and watched him race at Barber this past August (2015). I bought a single owner '99 Miata with 136K miles a few weeks later and blew head gasket on same day I bought it!. My brother is an import mechanic and shop supervisor at shop in Jacksonville, FL though, so I flew him out and the three of us had our own Overhaulin show in my garage in Owasso, OK for 5 days rebuilding the car. We replaced and upgraded just about every performance related part and installed a roll bar and after he left I kept going.... I have taken the car to Hallett four times and auto cross twice - placed 7 out of 27 novice drivers pre-turbo, best time Hallett : 1:32.41 (Got some work to do...) Welcome to the world of Miata A good portion happened later - we replaced head gasket, installed new spec Miata Belstein struts, roll bar, sway bars, timing belt, radiator, and did alignment while my brother was here... LavaMan
Just put on Dyno. Best run was 228.6 HP to rear wheels. With some tuning and adjustments to PCM we think we can get 240...it's a beast... robertcope 1 Link to post

LavaMan
Update: Blew three rod bearings on Christmas day. Getting motor back from machine shop Monday finally. Have registered for Hallett on April 16-17 so I hope to make it. Have added graphite wing, FM Big Brake Kit, New FM suspension, FM Big Brake kit and Big Spark kit. Bought new FM pistons, rods, gaskets, fuel and water pump for re-build that should take place next week. Had little minor accident in parking lot of local shop and had to replace trunk lid and rear bumper. Plan is to paint body "copperhead" and hard top white. Have front spoiler in bound and splitter to mount to it is already here. Hope to get 280-300 RWP...will be 1.9L after re-build. Here's pics of first Mock up of custom rear diffuser (will be moved up and back and have two more blades on ends) and center mount exhaust (3" FM attached to FM II turbo) Link to post
