miata_racer
I'll just copy and paste mine. My alignment (if I remember) is about -2.4F (4.5 deg casterF) and -2.2R and 1/8 toe out F and 1/8 toe in rear. engine: - bone stock motor with 146k miles - ebay maf adapter to a 2.5" straight shot of exhaust tube into an AEM filter off my mazda3's old intake (with 3" dryer tubing around the 2.5" pipe - bosal header off someone on CR.net - jackson racing cat - magnaflow exhaust (removed muffler and ran with turndown @ rear axle) - alum underdrive pulley - 14 deg timing advance and 93 oct fuel other: - removed A/C and most plumbing under hood - depowered rack - removed passenger seat, soft top and rear shelf insulation...still got carpet there - fans wired in synch to run all the time (stock 1.6 replacement radiator) - alum tape over cardboard for my rad panel :) - tsi intakes - 4.1 T1 torsen - 8lb motobatt battery - simpson lap belt and foamectomy driver seat - worthless motorcycle mirrors - hardtop with rennenmetal mounts - HD M1 Sport roll bar (hope to have a kirk 6pt later) - home depot garden edging air dam brakes: - no prop valve...straight unions - 1.8 rotors and xp12 pads up front. stock 1.6 and Axxis ULT rears - the US brake fluid fron safe racer - 949 SS lines - cheapass STB with bolt for MC brace suspension: - 99 NB bilsteins revalved by bilstein in Poway, CA Feb 2009 (12k miles ago or so) - GC coilovers 700/450 rates - RB 1.125 hollow front bad and mazdaspeed links. no rear bar - ISC racing top mounts - 15x9 tire rack wheels with hankook RS3s or the 13x9 keizers with some crap slicks I think that's about it. with 1/4 tank of fuel, no hardtop and a stock passenger seat (on my 13s) it weighed 2050. So with the 6lb heavier 15s and 15" tires being 5lb heavier...that's 40lbs....plus maybe a 15lb difference in weight between the HT and a pass seat? I'm ad actually 2320 with low fuel...so maybe 2330-2340 most of the day.... CW lap times - 2.02.0-2.02.3 range CCW - no idea...I did a 2:01 in a stock 2001 2.7L boxster on old victoracers 6 years ago before the motor popped. I suppose the miata would be close as is? Slowpoke
Bummer. I may have been having a conversation with Misty or Darcie about some agricultural adventure.... Well for the record, with street tires (Dunlop SP600's) and in a daily driven STi, I did a 2:03....only reason I know as I was on Greg Wallace's azz for a lap in his Cayman S and he had all the data acquisition info that backs it up. I'm still a pussy though, Misty wanted me to instruct because I'm smooth and know the lines, not because I'm the fastest out there :) Link to post

Once I had the revelations from riding with Colin I could not get clean for the rest of the session. There are definitely 2 more seconds out there, probably 4. The car is retarded fast, the driver is retarded; this makes for a unique combination of failure. Edit: Updated HP figures after a recent dyno...numbers went way down, lol. Link to post
ffej
1991 Miata 250whp/240wtq I'm incredibly jealous of those numbers, but totally unwilling to dump the money into my Bavarian motor to get them. 225 NT-01's on a 9" wheel What is it with you Miata guys stretching too small tires on your wheels? I fit 255s on my 9" wheels The car is retarded fast, the driver is retarded; this makes for a unique combination of failure. LOL! That you'll admit to it means you're far safer than plenty of people I've had the "pleasure" of screaming at from the right seat. Link to post
hustler
For the record, although the engine numbers are phenomenal on low boost (310whp at 18psi on a Mustang Dyno) the suspension performance trumps the motor by a country mile. The car is fun with power, with the nice shocks/grip it's unreasonably fast. What is it with you Miata guys stretching too small tires on your wheels? I fit 255s on my 9" wheels The Toyo/Nitto carcass is wider than 225mm: they have a very slight "pull" and that is a world of benefit in terms of feel, pressures, and ultimate grip. I prefer a 205 on an 8" wheel over a 225, and the slight stretch is significantly faster. That you'll admit to it means you're far safer than plenty of people I've had the "pleasure" of screaming at from the right seat. My lack-luster lap times tell the story...but that story is evolving. There are a few corners that are "no lift" in my car which I do not possess the testicular fortitude to hit at the limit. Track glory takes a back seat to driving the car home. Hallett is the only track where I can boast. Link to post

hustler
Seems like 1:57 is good achievement for TTA/TTB class car. I don't know much about NASA time trial rule; what would a Miata turbo with race suspension/tires be classified under? It depends on points, but most likely power/weight will put us in TTA at 240whp+ on a dynojet. Judging from what I've run at Hallett, MSR-C, ECR, and now TWS, that's where I expect to land. Give me a set of Hoosiers and I'll feel a little better about TTA. Ken Ogeron is my nemesis, I should be running a tick faster than him (with his Hoosiers) but I don't have the testicular fortitude yet. The guy is good. Again, those guys are on Hoosiers while us Miata guys typically run R-comps, so TTA sounds about right for my car...now I need a set of expensive rubbers. I feel that with a set of Hoosiers on my car, at a track I know, I'm a protest away from TTS. Link to post

learningtoshift
laptimes without an attached traqmate or g2x date file, or video, or link to race results are "big fish" stories.. The fastest I've been in my E90 is 1:58ish (I counted the seconds) - sweet setup: - NT01s - DTC70s - SRF - Normal shock mode, normal throttle, normal steering, all nannies off (thanks but no thanks BMW) - 210lb passenger (carefully selected to get the corner balance perfect) - 35lb baby seat behind driver - "My humps" playing loud enough to hear over cut-outs and a helmet - some random kids toys rolling around in a place I can't actually find - shop towel zip-tied over power-steering reservoir Link to post

Geezer
CW: 2:00.8 MX5 Hoosiers Coilovers Approximately 160-170 WHP 2450 lbs/no driver First (and only) day I've ever run TWS CW, and this was after about 40 minutes. Then I corded a tire. Pretty sure the car has a 58 in it. CCW: 2:00.x BMW M coupe, Bone stock, Direzza Star Specs. JamesL
Interesting comparing the CCW vs CW times in this thread... I was under the impression CW was ~2s faster than CCW from people I have talked to. Is it simply a case of having more experience running CCW? Or do you guys actually feel the track is faster CCW?
