Forum requests...

I have noticed that we're seeing people from outside the Texas area sign up lately. That is fantastic. We haven't had forums dedicated to tracks around the country, but that doesn't mean that they can't get created. If you'd like a particular track forum or just a generic regional forum added to the list, just let us know.

I would love to see a higher image count per post , at least 15 image links per post, its my only complaint so far and only because its a pita on the build threads.

Huge, and animated signatures are beginning to irritate me.

I agree. I've been real tempted to put some limits on signatures, but I have tried to error towards freedom of expression. Honestly, even huge, non-animated signatures (sorry, Clay) bother me.

I still think a build diary forum would be nice. We've got a few going in various sections, it would be nice to consolidate them to a single forum.

If you think mine was big, you should visit any other forum on the internet :) 140px x 400px is small compared to most sigs out there.

Sure, the car looks great, but I don't think every post he makes needs it? I guess that's personal preference. @@savowood is the one with the really terrible signature.

Anyhow, it is really easy to ignore someone's signature: If you mouse over it, an "X" appears in the upper-right corner of the signature. If you click on the "X" you will be asked if you want to ignore that user's signature or all user signatures.

Oh wow, I feel silly for not noticing that. That's a really nice feature.

LOL. Well, don't feel too silly, I just noticed it, too :)

I had been using adblock to get rid of them, but this is better!

Well, nobody has put any restrictions on them... don't really plan to since people can easily opt out of them.

I don't care how nice your car is, I don't need to see the same exact picture of it a half-dozen times on every page of a thread you're active in. :) I promise I can remember what it looks like for more than a few seconds.

I wish every forum had the "ignore this user's signature" function.

Robert, had some issues attaching files just now.

The simple uploader won't accept .xml file uploads.

The fancy flash uploaded wouldn't accept the zip files (containing xml files) or the raw xml file, citing a security error.

Hmm, both of those extensions are allowed. There is no security scanning system or anything like that. Could you email the files you're trying to me? [email protected]

Okay, I am pretty sure I understand this one -- the swf is being served via the CDN's domain and for security reasons doesn't allow uploads to other domains.

I haven't figured the other issue out. My best guess is that it isn't handle the XML content well somewhere, ie it isn't getting encoded correctly somewhere that it should be. Oddly, I find nothing in any logs to indicate what the heck is going on.

Well, we have the workaround of just wrapping everything in .zip files.

Yeah. Clearly not a high severity issue. But I've opened a ticket with Invision, anyhow. I wasn't able to attach the unzipped XML file to their support system, either, so the bug is clearly reproducible on their end, too!

Funny. The guy who picked up the ticket apparently works a TWS, MSRH, and COTA... I guess working flags or something. Small world.

Hrm. Well, this is kind of silly. From the support ticket:

=====

Our uploader library opens files and looks inside them to attempt to identify potential cross-site-scripting hack attempts. This file is just meeting those checks and is why it is not allowed. Note that not all XML files fail to upload, this one in particular is being blocked.

Within our uploader we look at the following:

else if( preg_match( '#<script|<html|<head|<title|<

body|<pre|<table|<a\s+href|<img|<plaintext|<cross\-domain\-policy#si', $file_check ) )

Within the first 512 bytes of data in the file, if any of these open tags are found, the file appears to be suspicious and is not allowed. Your XML file has this as the second line

<HeaderLines>

=====
