  1. Agreed - the layout looks like it'll be a blast. Really hoping they'll have rental karts. I've only done the indoor K1 Speed thing. It was fun but left me wanting more.
  2. Yeah, me too. I think everyone trying to talk Ahmad out of buying the Vette missed this part in his first post: "I've always had my eye on the C5 Corvettes. Love the way it looks and would be awesome to check it off my bucket list." I'm in the same boat as a Miata owner. I often look at the C5 and C6 as a "wonder what it would be like..." daydreaming scenario.
  3. Looks like registration opened today for the Sept 6 - 7 (Friday - Saturday) Miatas @ Hallett event. I've never run at Hallett and would like to go this year. But i noticed that Friday registration is limited only to drivers with previous Hallett experience. Does anyone know if they'll make an exception for people like me with a decent amount of HPDE experience? I'd prefer not to make the drive up there for a one-day-only event.
  4. Same here! It’s been a long time.
  5. This hits close to home. I'm pretty sure Blipshift t-shirts fall into the same category as cargo shorts from our wives' perspective.
  6. I like your version better.
  7. Life's getting in the way again. Working on early retirement so I can do this track thing full time.
  8. In! First track day of the year. Let's make it a good one.

It really is great prep - especially in VR. I'm planning my first trip to the Nurburgring next year and have been doing many many laps in Assetto Corsa as practice. Hoping to not crash into the Armco barrier while I'm there. I really don't want to end up being featured in one of those 'Ring crash highlight reels.
  10. Shameless plug alert. I designed a t-shirt that Blipshift thought was decent enough to put on sale (today only). I'm not a designer - just a car obsessed guy with an idea that they thought was good enough to green light. Take a look here if interested: https://www.blipshift.com/
  11. Not sure if the first gen 350z is done depreciating, but I think they have aged pretty well:
  12. For the latest front brake pad change on my 2008 NC Miata, I switched from Hawk DTC-60 to Carbotech XP10. After the swap, I noticed a hollow clunking sound from the front wheels while driving over bumps and also when pressing the brake pedal. After checking all of the suspension fasteners and ruling out any loose bolts, I took a look at the brake pad fitment and noticed larger-than-normal gaps between the Carbotech pads and the caliper bracket. Here’s a comparison between the old Hawk DTC-60 pads and the new Carbotech XP10 pads: I double checked my order invoice to make sure I ordered the correct pads, and it appears I did. Before I raise the issue with the vendor (KNS Brakes), I wanted to check here to see if anyone has had similar fitment issues. I’m about 95% sure the source of the clunking sounds are the pads jostling around as I drive over bumps.
  13. You had me at "sideways the whole time" and then further sealed the deal with "big boy pants". This is exactly what I need in my life.
  14. I definitely felt ABS kick in when I had it enabled. It wasn't necessarily intrusive though. This probably sounds stupid, but I'm kinda OCD about trying to chase a pure driving experience with little to no computer aids. The challenge of mastering threshold braking without flat-spotting tires is part of the allure for me. The ABS hate started when I was really enjoying a rain session at MSRC (with ABS kicking in frequently) and my instructor said, "Good job, but try doing this in the wet without ABS like on my NA Miata." This was the "hold my beer/challenge accepted" moment when I decided to disable ABS and prove to myself that I didn't have to rely on ABS to save my ass. Maybe I should just buy an older, carbureted car with no computer aids to chase that experience? In the meantime, I'm going to try to find ways to take my relatively modern NC Miata back to the stone ages. However, it seems that my ABS disable solution is not the right approach per Derek's feedback - so I need to do more research there.
  15. Really? Do you have any more details? Curious to know how it messes with the bias. I would like to keep the ABS off if possible (for a pure driving experience and all that bullshit). EDIT: Sorry for taking this thread off-topic, but you appear to be correct. I found this thread over at miata.net: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=484510
